COORDINATED CARE

Bella Bambino believes that coordinated continuity of care is important for both mother and baby. As needed, our team will consult with the newborn’s primary pediatrician to ensure follow-up care and management. After each visit in the Bella Bambino Newborn Care Center, a letter, including an assessment of the visit and detailed plan of care, will be sent to the OB/GYN and primary pediatrician.

MOTHER & NEWBORN VISIT

The first appointment at the Bella Bambino Newborn Care Center will last an hour to an hour and a half and should occur within 24 hours of being discharged from the hospital after birth or before 6 days of age.

Upon arrival, mother and newborn(s) will be greeted by our team of nurturing professionals.

The team, consisting of an Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and medical professional, will assess mother and newborn(s) for postpartum health.

During this assessment, an IBCLC will meet with each breastfeeding mom to discuss her medical history, feeding goals, and feeding history and will observe the mother nursing her newborn(s). Education and tips on breastfeeding management and comfort will be offered.

While there are fewer questions on how to bottle-feed a baby, there can still be problems and concerns. A feeding assessment will occur, which will include valuable information and education about adequate feeding volumes, as well as proper preparation and storage.

At the end of this session, a care plan will be given to the mother. In addition, a visit summary will be sent to the mother’s OB/GYN and the newborn’s pediatrician.
